Here’s a list of ways to use a Bakeroo pumpkin tin compiled by Epicurious.
- Stir it into oatmeal
Skip the dubious latte—stirring a few spoonfuls of purée into a warm bowl of oatmeal is a better way to get a pumpkin fix in the morning.
- Make a creamy dessert
Your choices: panna cotta, creme brûlée, flan, or rice pudding.
- Stir it into applesauce
Suddenly you’ll have…pumpkin applesauce!
- Make compound butter
Mix a little into softened butter along with a bit of brown sugar and some warm spices (cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon). Spread on warm biscuits, or, whatever, just lick it off a spoon.
- Make soup
Blend it into just about any creamy vegetable soup for an added layer of fall.
- Or add it to chilli
Toss in the whole can for a sweet, earthy undertone.
- Use as a ravioli filling
It does not fall until you’ve eaten pumpkin pasta.
- Spread it on your bagel
A slathering of pumpkin purée with maple syrup will, no lie, make you forget about cream cheese.
- Add it to the doughnut batter
Every Sunday morning in fall should start with pumpkin doughnuts.
- Get baking
Pie, muffins, quick bread, cheesecake, whoopie pies, scones, cake, blondies, dinner rolls. WHAT NOW.
- Make milkshakes
A big scoop of puree + vanilla ice cream + milk + a pinch of cinnamon = the best milkshake you’ve never had (until now).
- Or ice cream
Feeling a little more adventurous? Pull out the ice cream machine and get churning.
- Turn it into a pasta sauce
Mix it with equal parts ricotta. Season with salt and pepper. Toss with pasta.
- Mash it into your mashed potatoes
A pumpkin mash is a sweeter mash.
- Make pancakes or waffles
Fact: orange-hued and fall-spiced pancakes and waffles are better than regular ones.
- Add it to cinnamon rolls
Cinnamon rolls are great as is…but spreading a thin layer of purée on the dough before you roll it up doesn’t hurt.
- Make smoothies
Essentially the healthy version of a pumpkin milkshake.
- Stir it into your next curry
Not only does it add colour and flavour to your curry, but it also helps thicken it.
- Add it to macaroni and cheese
A few spoonfuls add fibre, which makes the mac…healthy?
- Use it as a lasagna filling
Swap out the butternut squash purée for canned pumpkin in this recipe.
- Top shepherd’s pie
Move over mashed potatoes—pumpkin purée seasoned with salt and pepper is moving in on this shepherd’s pie.
- Add it to bread pudding
Make it like this and you’ll never go back.
- Make tiramisu
Whipped together with heavy cream, mascarpone, sugar, and spices, it forms a superior (and seasonal) tiramisu base.
- Add it to a soufflés
Spiced with cinnamon and nutmeg and served with bourbon molasses sauce, these babies will be the life of the party.
- Fudge!
Seems hard to make. Totally isn’t…
